Reflective Paper 2
7/4/2013
I. Introduction
In this paper we are going to look into how important our lives are and how we can make a difference in others lives just by living our lives the way we are called to. We are all given multiple chances everyday to show others the love of Christ, but do we take advantage of these situations. Once we learn how the Lord is asking us to live our lives and the way we are called to live by faith, then we can truly love each other in a manner that is Christ lived on. Part 1 Life What is the meaning of life? Is there a purpose to our lives? As we read scripture, we see how important our lives are to the Lord, and what we are called to do with them. In Mark 17 Jesus tell us to, “Come, follow me, and I will send you out to fish for people” This statement proves to us that we should being doing our best to lead others to Christ. In Matthew 6 we are told not to worry about our daily needs, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Also in Luke 12 we are given similar advice. These few verses are just the beginning of the beautiful blessing the Lord has in store for us. The more I read scripture and study the Word of God the more I realize that our true call here on earth is to bring as many people to the knowledge of Jesus Christ as their Savior. For much of my life I thought that my life was useless for the Lord, and if anything I was only dragging down the Word. It seemed to me that all I was doing was giving the world more fuel to fight against being a Christian. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I started to open my heart to the Lord so He could work His will through me. It has taken a few years but I am now starting to see and understand how to have faith, and not just say I have faith. For a long time I thought that I couldn’t be a missionary because I wasn’t going to third world countries and spreading the Word. In recent years I have come to understand that my life is just as an important missionary journey as is any missionary trip I could take. We need to comprehend that we have the opportunity everyday to show the world the love of Christ. Our missionary field here at home is completely different form the one we would experience in another country. Even though I have never been to a third world country to preach Jesus I think it is much more difficult to reach non-believers here at home. Here we must deal with the constant onset of the devil through everyday life. It seems as if everything evil is becoming more and more acceptable. In times like these it will be the little things that a Christian does or does not do that has the chance to plant the seed in a non-believers heart. Many times in our life we will talk to a person or influence them in a way that we are not aware of, but through these actions are how we can begin to change the world. More than likely most of us will not lead a revival and bring thousands to Christ, but we might be the one to bring the next Billy Graham to Christ.
II. Part 2 Love Strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties, an assurance of affection the object of attachment, devotion, or admiration, unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another: as (1) : the fatherly concern of God for humankind (2) : brotherly concern for others , Catholic Encyclopedia. The Lord shows us the true meaning of the word with John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” As all of us who have children can relate, this verse is almost unimaginable. Before I had children I didn’t comprehend the true magnitude of this statement. Now thinking of giving up a child for anytime seems crazy, but now I understand how much the Lord loves us. This passage and many more show us just how much the Lord truly loves us. Love is a word that is thrown around as if it doesn’t really have any true meaning anymore. We say we love football, or pizza or a car, but are these really the meaning that the word love stands for. As we examine the word love we can see there is much more to it than our simple day to day meanings. One of the meanings that are stated above is brotherly concern for others. As I think about football I remember how much I enjoyed playing, coaching, watching, pretty much anything you can think of to do with football I enjoyed doing it. After saying that I now think of all the things I have done in my life in the past years that have taken football’s place. For example, I now have an angel for a wife, 3 beautiful children and more blessing than I think one man should be allowed in a life time. Also I am not taking college classes, which for the last year as pretty much kept me away from any kind of TV time what’s-so-ever. After saying all of this, did I ever really love football? The answer is no, but I do really enjoy the sport. When we associate love with a different meaning that changes how we understand the word entirely, we can better realize its importance. If we position the definition, the fatherly concern of God for humankind, in for the meaning of love, we can see how much more critical it is and how much more incredible our Lord is. Loving and caring for others in the same fashion Jesus did, will open the door to others and give us a chance to reach their hearts.
Conclusion The more I read scripture the more I become aware of the beautiful blessings that fill my life every day. Grasping the importance of our lives to His plan is vital to reaching others. Agreeing that we are essential in the Lords plan will help us to live a life that is Christ lived on. Striving to live a life that is pleasing to Him is the best way I can bring others to the knowledge of Jesus as their Savior.

During the American Industrial Revolution that occurred in the 1800s, new technology and inventions were created, revolutionizing America. America's industrialization is referred to as a revolution because it's development of transportation, mass production, and immigration revolutionized America both economically and socially. Amid the 1800s, the US government encouraged the production of a transcontinental railroad by granting land to railroad companies. By 1869 a message could be sent from New York to San Francisco in 7 days. This transportation improvement allowed cattle to be sent from the West to meat packaging districts in the Midwest, then to the East for consumption without the meat going bad.…

In his book Share Jesus Without Fear, William Fay lays out an easy and attainable way for one to reach people for Christ. A former mobster, and prostitution house owner, Fay says that if “God can take somebody like me and change him, he can take anybody in your life and change him as well.”1 In an easy to understand, comprehensive way, Fay shows how to overcome your fears and witness to those who are lost. By breaking down the six most common excuses one uses not to evangelize, he shows how to overcome the roadblocks that we place on ourselves. For instance, one of the fears he addresses is the fear of rejection. Fay points out that one must realize that this is not a contest. He says, “success is sharing your faith and living your life for Jesus Christ. It has nothing to do with bringing anyone to the Lord.”2 He goes on to say that it takes someone 7.6 times of hearing the Gospel before they give their lives to Christ. Just because you may have been the 3rd, does not mean that it didn’t make a difference. Throughout the book Fay lays out questions to ask, verses to go to, and objections that you will encounter, to lay out a way for you to share your faith with others without excuse.…

“Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.” Isaiah 45:22 (NKJV). I heard the question asked last night. “What rewards your life?” The answer was; to deeply appreciate those, who love you by loving them back. That’s what life is all about. You can ruin your life by desensitizing yourself. We are all afraid to say too much, feel too deeply, to let people know just how much they mean to us. But not God, in fact, we find in this verse how much He loves us. Many of us have a mental picture of what a Christian should be. Yet many of us don’t make ourselves vulnerable enough to fully narrow all our interests until our mind, heart, and body are completely focused and looking at…

This mission reminds us that for the Kingdom of God to continue to break in, individual lives need to be changed, while being motivated and equipped for transformation. Our Book of Discipline offers this cue: “God has used our church to save persons, heal relationships, transform social structures, and spread scriptural holiness, thereby changing the world.” When we change lives and introduce people to the all-loving nature of God, we indeed transform the world. When making disciples, the Church welcomes people into community, educates them on God’s call for Christians, and equips them toward using their spiritual gifts to serve as change agents playing a role in bringing about the Kingdom of…

My paper is to reflect on what I have learned from my class and my understanding of the Christians view. I will focus on three important factors for my paper. Finally I will focus on what can the local church do to better communicate God’s love to your community.…

The Bible chronicles mans fall from what God created him to be, and God’s desire to restore a sinful man unto Himself through missions. Even though man was originally made perfectly in the image of God, man would eventually succumb to his free will and his own selfish desires. Once man allowed evil into his heart, fellowship with God was broken, along with His heart. Through His sovereign grace and mercy, God seeks to restore order to His earthly kingdom. We find God’s plan and outline in the pages of His word as He makes a way for man to be redeemed from the chains of sin. The awesomeness of the situation is that God allows us to be part of the mission to reach out and share the Gospel to a lost and dying world. Ultimately, the mission of God finds its fulfillment in man’s worship and service to God in His kingdom.…

He should be our example. (Phil. 2:5: your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.) This is about learning the humility of Christ in our daily lives. We as Christians are to pattern our lives after the perfect example of Christ. He sacrificed himself for others and also serves others. Christ’s experience proves that exaltation always follows humiliation (1 Peter 5:6). He that exalts himself shall be humbled. There is no joy and peace in Pride and self seeking. Only Christ himself can give that joy and peace when we have the submissive mind. Christ like humility is the key to unity. The more we are committed to Christ and living for him, the more we will be committed to each other. Taking others to be more important than ourselves. Thus, we will be able to share the love of Christ to the…

Even if we are at our lowest or a fallen state doing things of the world that corrupts us, God grants us grace and guides us to a path of restoration. Therefore, we are made new and the image of God is restored through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ. We walk out this principle daily by demonstrating the love and care of those who Christ leads us to while maintaining our own character by upholding the image of God. As Christians, we must evaluate the culture of today through Scripture and challenge the views of the world we live in. Without detaching from the world, we must we must join in God's redemptive purposes for the different aspects of the culture we live in. Moreover, we see God's grace as he lets those who do not follow Him and those that do serve in preserving His world. Being a Christian means that we must serve His world as well. We are given various examples of how change can come through Spirit-led service that builds businesses, helps the poor, feeds the hungry, ministers to the lost, disciples believers and many other areas that God may lead you to. But we must remember it is not our works that make us saved. Only by believing that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and the redemptive power of Christ then can we be…

In my service to God I am motivated to use the life God has given me to do something meaningful and purposeful, not to just take the easy way out and coast to through life barely getting by. Over time my service to God has increased enormously, my commitment went from just going to be there to looking forward to it and leading the charge at some points. I became more involved in church activities, going on mission trips or volunteering with Vacation Bible School for grades pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. It became more interesting and strengthened my ethics as I was able to understand it as I got older. I learned discipline and dedication to faith and my congregation. These beliefs help me get through the harder times in my life.…

The next question is the imperative one that presses the urgency of the matter “If you died, where would you go and why?” (Fay & Shepherd, 1999, p. 33) This prompts the individual to examine themselves and opens the sets the groundwork for you to convey the Good News of Jesus Christ. The final question in the series is “If what you are believing is not true, do you want to know?” (Fay & Shepherd, 1999, p. 33) We live in an age of apostasy and it burdens me to think that the only time a person may ever hear the Gospel message presented, it could be tainted with corruption whether it be greed, manipulation or cult recruitment. It is absolutely critical that we present the Gospel in it’s purest form with no agenda of our own except the Lord’s will be done. “God’s word penetrates and changes hearts toward his Son.” Hebrews 4:12 says “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrated even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Fay & Shepherd, 1999, p. 41) Bill Fay points out to his readers that there is tremendous power in the word of God and recommends that we evangelize with the Sword at…

“My command is this; love each other as I have loved you” John 15:12. The quote above is stating that we are here to love each other. I take that to the next extent. I see it as a statement of love all things. I believe everyone has a purpose for being here today. We all have that passion or iinterest or quirky inspiration that gets us going every day. The goal that gets us out of bed 2 hours after we went to sleep to repeat the same old school or work day. The thing that we hope someone will ask about so you can just tell them your elaborate plan. So they can see the glow in your eyes when you speak about it. That for me is to become a veterinarian.…
