Reinforcement Summary
Describing and discussing three reinforcement-based procedures that could be used to reduce problem behaviors in a school. The following three reinforcement-based procedures called the (DR) differential reinforcement interventions. According to (“Differential reinforcement procedures,” 2015) (DRI) differential reinforcement of incompatible behaviors, (DRL) differential reinforcement of lower rate behaviors and (DRO) differential reinforcement of other behaviors. The DRI intervention unlike DRL and DRO allows the use of rewards as a positive reinforcer, when the reducing the presence of any inappropriate behaviors. This intervention allows the behavioral analyst to utilize the rewards to the individual to reduce inappropriate behaviors. The DRL intervention allows for the behavioral analyst to conduct a behavioral recording of the individual over a period of time which includes the minutes,hours, periods and days of the individual to record an average behavioral occurrence. This methods reflects the number times the individuals inappropriate behavior occurred and allows the behavioral analyst to provide reinforces to the individual when the number of inappropriate behavior occurrences are alleviated. Lastly, the DRO intervention is when a reinforcer is presented when a inappropriate behavior is not being displayed at a particular time frame. …show more content…
According to ( Copper, Heron, Heward 2007) undesirable emotional responses and aggression, over use of punishment and an increase rate of the problem behavior under non-punishment (p.337). When an undesirable emotional response and aggression occurs this is usually when the punishment evokes the individual to react aggressive manner.
