Evethough Albania developed relation with the West, the best ally of it has been Turkey over the years. Those two countries developed bilateral relations with Albania in political, military and economic spheres. Due to the inclusive policies of Turkey within the region, multilateral relations were established with Albania and Turkey encouraged Albania for its participation in international institutions. In addition Turkey supported Albania in its integration into Euro-Atlantic structures.
Relationships were becaming better because of different strategies that those two countries applied. These strategies were based in the political collaborations, economic cooperation, cultural projects, and bringing Turkish lifestyle in Balkans and other European regions.. These ties become stronger afer the Cold War ended. Two countries signed Free Trade Agreement between them. Turkey considers Albania as a strategic trade partner in the region. There are lot of big Turkish companies that invested in Albania over the years and some of them are still investing. Also Turkey provided important technical and humanitarian assistances to Albania. Activities and projects of Turkish International Development and Cooperation Agency contributed to development of relations between Turkey and Albania. Coming to the cultural events between Albania and Turkey, it is obvious that they have started from the period of the Ottoman Empire rule in Albania. Each national culture, regardless of its level of development, could not avoid external influence. Thus, the Albanian culture has traces of Byzantine, Hellenistic, Turkish (Ottoman), etc. These traces of civilizations and different cultures are a result of the geographical position of the Albanian territories and direct contacts of the Albanian people with religion, literature, philosophy and culture of other peoples, the West and the
