Theology 101
Dr. Nairn Relationship between God and Creation Genesis 1:26, God said “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the bird of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animal of the earth, and over every creeps upon the earth.” I think this is the image of human dignity. We can simplify this by saying that we are smarter than other creatures in this earth. In my opinion from a person who doesn’t have any religion, I don’t believe in this. Because I always believe that human has been developing in a long way of evolution, and now I just learnt a new conception which is god created human. It is really interesting but still I don’t believe it. Maybe I am a person of science, and yet I can be wrong but for right now I am faithful with it. Like I said above, I don’t think god created human, therefore, we are not perfect beings. We are here right now in a good figure, but not totally perfect, because we have been developing through a long way of our evolution with many adaptions. It’s not just my thinking which is similar with Darwin’s theory, in fact, we are gaining more and more information about evolution by testing DNA of many species, and then we can discover important evidences about theory of evolution; therefore, in my opinion, the Darwin’s theory takes away our dignity. Back again to the idea which is human were created in God’s image, and we are granted rights which others don’t have. The question is why don’t we just destroy and kill everything in this world? The answer is we can’t because each species plays an essential role which keeps the earth balance. If the human really has likeness of God, we can control and fix everything, but the fact that we can’t. In truth, there are so many things that we haven’t leant about other species, what they can do. So from this view of point, I conclude that we are just alike other species and our
