Relationships In The Cathedral By Raymond Carver
In the Cathedral by Raymond Carver we read, the wife said, “a blind man in my house was not something I looked forward to.” (Raymond Carver, the Cathedral) This statement above is the perfect embodiment of a completely dysfunctional relationship. This statement clearly illustrates a dying relationship between the two. In the Cathedral Carver majestically brought the story to life by portraying two working class individuals struggling with every day’s challenges. In the cathedral, the story portrays the husband as loving and caring towards his wife, however, it does not do the wife justice as the story moves forward it portrays the wife as less likeable. Then certain aspect of the story gets the readers to sympathize with the wife. According

    If I had to pick a side that would describe Carver's writing style better. After reading his story, the Cathedral. I would say that his writing is more natural and unaffected prose filled with details that stick in a reader's mind like tiny Velcro balls.
