1 Buddhism, is much more than the fat man you see at a Chinese restaurant that you toss pennies into. Buddhism is not called a religion but, a peaceful non violent movement of people wanting to live a calm and healthy life, and eliminate human suffering. No matter the race, origin, creed, etc; you are treated with respect . In Buddhism there is no separation between the body and spirit, so taking care of yourself physically, and spiritually are very important. Some ways they do this is by various forms of meditation and yoga. When there is a difference in religions, there is controversy. In an article I read this quote states the discrimination against Buddhist. “At the meeting, people raised concerns about traffic, water pollution and "animal sacrifices," along with noise from gongs, which Stanford says are no louder than church bells.” ("Discrimination Against Buddhist In Olathe", 2011) . When I read this I was thrown back a little bit, that it was even an issue if they want to move their temple. There are so many churches and they are supposed to be good spirited people, but their comments are irrational. Another case of discrimination was in South Korea in Seoul. Christians protested out side city hall and rallied. The Buddhist were outraged feeling as if Christianity was Favored. Earlier events showed that the Temples were taken off a transportation route, later was noted as an accidental mistake.
