During the Renaissance, one of the main ideas was also freedom. People felt that they deserved religious, political, and intellectual freedom and that feeling became more and more present and eventually resulted in war. For example, the American Revolutionary war was a conflict that resulted because the American people wanted freedom from Great Britain. The Age of Exploration also helped bring on the wars of the 1700s because as explorers found and claimed more land, they would have conflict with either people who were already inhabiting the land or people who had already claimed the land. For example, the French and Indian War was a result of French expansion into the Ohio River valley even though there were already British colonies established there. The Scientific Revolution was also a cause of the wars of the 1700s.
