Renee Fox Case

The defendant, Renee Fox, has been charged with aggravated robbery under the theory of accountability in Cook County Illinois. The charges arise out of an alleged aggravated robbery committed by Steven Sharp on August 10th, 2016 at Rub’s Backcountry Smokehouse. Fox was arraigned on August 11th, 2016 and is awaiting trial in Cook County Superior Court. The subsequent facts outline the alleged offense and the surrounding circumstances that relate to these charges. This memorandum’s purpose is to determine the likelihood of proving Fox guilty of aggravated robbery under the theory of accountability. Approximately six months prior to the offense, Fox recommended her friend and former roommate, Sharp, for a job at Rub’s. Sharp has been described as a “good although unremarkable” employee, but was often seen berating his co-workers, and once, even a patron. He also has a prior criminal history, once being charged with domestic violence and serving six months of probation. Fox is a long time employee of Rub’s and has no prior criminal history.
when Sharp arrived to work two hours late for his scheduled shift. Sharp was called into the office of the owner where they argued and Sharp threatened “maybe someone should rob you for a change”. Sharp was immediately fired, but hung around the restaurant for several hours after being fired and was seen having several conversations with Fox. At approximately 4:30 P.M Sharp made his way back into the kitchen and demanded his job back. The owner refused and Sharp stormed out of the kitchen, smashing plates and muttering something about “Robbin Hood.” This altercation led the owner to call the police at approximately 4:45 P.M. and ordered the employees to keep the kitchen door
