RESEARCH METHODOLOGY AND PROCEDURES
3.1 Introduction
This section describes how the research was conducted; it thus gives the area of study, research design, target population, sample size, sample selection techniques, data collection methods and data analysis that the researcher used during his research work.
3.3 Research Design
According to Kothari (2003) research design is the arrangements of the conditions for collection and analysis of data in a manner that aims to combine relevance to the research purpose with economy in procedure. In fact the research design is the conceptual structure within which research is conducted; it constitutes the blueprint for collection, measurement and analysis of data. As such the design includes an outline of what researcher will do from writing hypothesis and its operational implications to the final analysis of data. The study is concerned with the Assessment of the effectiveness of internal control over cash in public organizations. The researcher used a case study research design because it is flexible in terms of data collection methods also it enabled the researcher to study in details the ST in Kigoma.
3. 2 Area of Study
The study was conducted at The Sub-Treasury Kigoma Regional Office, the office is located at Kigoma –Ujiji Municipal council, alongside Rumumba road at Hazina Block. The reason for choosing ST- Kigoma to be a case study is because the researcher was able to obtain data and information required especially on effectiveness of internal control over cash.
3.4 Target Population
The target population was all workers of ST -Kigoma in which the researcher used to gather the information/data.
3.4 Sample size and sampling techniques
This covered the units of enquiry from which data were obtained in the research project and a clear plan of action for obtaining a sample from the target population. Also presents the sample size selected from the targeted population and various
