Research on Lunch Bag's Heat Insulation Technology
_____-____SCIENCE PROJECT PROPOSAL FROM____ -------

Question
Which lunch box brand is the best thermal insulator, Thermos, California Innovations or Zeomic?

hypothesis/prediction
Thermos Lunch Box is the best thermal insulator because it is more expensive than the other two lunch box types.
If Thermos lunch box is the best thermal insulator then food in it should maintain its original temperature longer than the other two lunch box types.

Identify
Dependent Variable: Lunch box type.
Independent Variable: The losing and gaining of heat.
Variables Attempting to Control: Environmental temperature, The temperatures of food and thermal insulators.

proposed experiments
Materials [Where to get]: * Zeomic lunch box [Canadian Tire] * Thermos lunch box [Walmart] * California Innovations lunch box [Walmart] * Aluminum foil [Canadian Tire] * Water [Home] * Ice Cream[Superstore]
Apparatus [Where to get]: * Thermometer(with needle) [Canadian Tire] * Thermometer(Outdoor) [Canadian Tire] * Kettle [Home] * Refrigerator [Home] * Timer [Home]
Methods - Experiment 1 1 Use outdoor thermometer determine the environmental temperature. 2 Use kettle to heat the water and split it into four equal cups. 3 Pour the heated water within each cup into different thermal insulators, and leave one cup outside all thermal insulators. 4 Collect temperature datas from each piece with thermometer(with needle) every 5 min and last for 2 hours.

Methods - Experiment 2 1 Use outdoor thermometer determine the environmental temperature. 2 Take ice cream out of the refrigerator and divide the them into four identical portions. 3 Use aluminum foils wrap each portion of ice cream and put them into different thermal insulators, and leave one portion outside all thermal insulators. 4 Collect temperature datas from each portion with thermometer(with needle) every 10 min and last for 2 hours.

We have been appointed by Dunkin Donuts to help them create a cup that will keep any liquid in the cup at a constant temperature, the insulated device should keep the liquid at a constant temperature in any sort of environment. This container must diminish any transfer of thermal energy. By putting our heads together we were able to brainstorm a few materials that insulate substances such as bubble wrap, plastic wrap, and aluminum foil. Using these materials we needed to figure out a way to coat the bottle in a way to keep the warmth inside the cup. By applying plastic wrap as our base we than packed on aluminum foil , bubble wrap and finally we wrapped the entire bottle several times in tape for better insulation.…
