Human resources management is define as the process of acquiring, training, appraising and compensating employees and of attending to their labor relations, health and safety, and fairness concerns. ( Gary Dessler, 2013, p.4). Human resources is the backbone of any business. It deals with the most important resource in the business-people. For any business to achieve its objectives they must plan their resources and one of their key resources is people. They need to get the best suited people and develop them well in order to meet the organization’s aims successfully. In this paper I will be discussing the function of the human resource department which will include the processes and methods for hiring, training and developing employees, how does the organization motivate their employees, and the human resource department meets the organization’s needs.
LaGuardia community college have a number of employee handbooks, they are the instructional staff, adjunct staff, civil service staff, and college assistant. According to the handbooks, the process of hiring employees for the organization is through the college’s Affirmative Action Program of CUNY . The processes and methods for hiring are done through job posting on the CUNY website and CUNYfirst, this allows those with the corrected qualifications to apply for the positions available. The hiring process would include hiring, initial screening, interview process, pre-employment assessments, offer of employment, background check and first day of work (Jack Halloran,1985, p.120&121. According to the human resources department the training and developing process is based on the department’s needs and requirement.
As part of the training and developing process there is an orientation procedure or commonly used term “onboarding”. The onboarding process happens within the first week of employment. Through this process new employees acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and behavior to become effective

    After completing the Nursing Expertise Self-Report, I felt as a nursing profession I was analytical toward each questions. I noticed that most of my answers were drawn from my clinical experience working as an emergency nurse. I find that I looked at the situation as whole, combining all aspect of nursing from objectives and subjective data while still adhering to all policy and procedure. I also noticed for any aspect of clinical situation that my patients may represent, I strong disagree that emotional attachment would get in the way of good nursing care. In fact, I believed that emotional attachment are a characteristic a caring and compassionate nurse. This kind of characteristic may allow the nurse to be more accurate with her findings because she knows closely of what is consider normal to her patient. She may be the first to notice a change in her patient’s condition. I thought this exercise was very informative and knowledgeable because it allowed to see how I am grown as a nursing professional. It is a great feeling to see that my nursing practice and decision making comes naturally by understanding that all pieces of information related to the patient is equally important one another. I also find that communication is essential to all aspect nursing care because it allow the patient to feel connected to the staff as well as understand his/her plan of care. As nursing professional we are always using critical thinking to anticipate the next possible event that could occur. Although we may not realize it, we tend to forget to communicate with the patient and family as often as we should. This exercise help me realize that I need to communicate with my patient more often to help them understand their care plan and the care providing to them.     Prehistoric Prelude: No pre-hominid or hominid species such as Australopithecus or homo erectus has been found in the Philippines. The first human beings probably reached the Philippines about 40,000 years ago at roughly the same time as they reached Australia and New Guinea. The Philippines, like Australia and New Guinea, were never actually joined to the south east Asian mainland but, at the low ocean levels, the water barrier was much less. The earliest human bones found in the Philippines were on Palawan of modern type and date to 22,000 years ago although stone tools from Palawan date back to 30,000 years ago. The original people of the Philippines were the ancestors of the people known today as Negritos or Aeta. They are an Australo-Melanesian people with dark skin and tight, curly brown hair. They are also distinctively small and of short stature. As the Pygmies in the equatorial forests of Africa, the Aeta are believed to have adapted locally to the tropical jungles of the Philippines. The Aeta are a nomadic hunting and gathering people who forage in small family bands with an informal organization and leadership. They were once widespread throughout the Philippines but are now found only in the remote highland areas of Luzon, Palawan, Panay, Negros and Mindanao. On Taiwan, the Austronesian speaking fishermen-farmers (who had migrated from China between 4,000 and 3,000 BCE) honed their sea-faring skills. They soon embarked on one of the most astonishing and extensive colonizations in human history known as the Austronesian expansion. By about 2,500 BC, one group, and just one group of Austronesian speakers from Taiwan had ventured to northern Luzon in the Philippines and settled there.
