1947 in his mansion in Palm Island, Florida. Capones parents immigrated from Naples, Italy, and settled in New York. He also left school in the 6th grade after a fight with a teacher. He was given the nickname “Scarface” because he was cut on the cheek with a razor during a bar fight.
In 1919, Capone moved to Chicago to escape arrest on a murder charge. Al Capone arrived to Chicago when the US approved a ban on alcoholic beverages, this was called
Prohibition. Capone started as a bouncer in a gangster business. He later became a bag man
(collecting payments) and enforcer. Capone was part of South Side territory gang.
Al Capone made a business out of bootlegging.
