It’s what’s on the inside that counts. This is critical when it comes to choosing the next laptop to meet computing standards. There are two major options when it comes to choosing a laptop: Apple or Microsoft. In short, heat is the bane of any computer. Laptops are computers of convenience, so it is no surprise that it is habit for a consumer to leave their product running on a bed or sofa, only to pick it up later and to find that it is extremely hot. To gain more battery life and keep things running silent, Apple has also eliminated a crucial aspect of the cooling system. Domingo observes, “The Core M processor is cooled without a fan, allowing the rest of the chassis to be filled with more battery packs.”
(Domingo 5) Leaving out the fan causes the entire chassis of the laptop to passively act as part of the heat dispersion process. This passive cooling is not nearly as effective as a cooling system that uses a fan, and will result in the computer running slower because it cannot remove the heat fast enough.
