Research Paper On Electrolytes
Electrolytes are minerals in the body that have an electric charge, they are in the blood, urine and body fluids, by maintaining the right balance of electrolytes helps the body's blood chemistry, muscle action and other processes. Levels of electrolytes in the body can become too low or too high. This is called an imbalance. Vitamins and minerals eg, sodium, calcium, potassium, chlorine, phosphate and magnesium are all electrolytes they are found in foods and the fluids.
- Examples of electrolyte imbalance could be when the body becomes dehydrated or overhydrated this is what happens when the amount of water in the body changes, causing dehydration or over hydration some causes include some medicines, vomiting, diarrhea, sweating or kidney

Ionic substances form when a metal reacts with a non-metal. They contain charged particles called ions. Those ionic substances are broken down by electrolysis. Electrolysis is the breakdown of a substance by electricity, and it only happens in liquids. The liquids that can be electrolyzed are called electrolytes. When said electrolyzed, means that the compounds in solutions are broken down when they conduct electricity. Its necessary the use of electrodes since it conducts the electricity to the solution. The electrodes are needed to be an anode, which receives the negative ions, and the cathode, which receives the positive ions.…

A new ethical discussion is emerging in the oncology world due to overwhelming advances in fertility preservation in all age groups. The journal article “The Ethics of Fertility Preservation for Paediatric Cancer Patients: From Offer to Rebuttable Presumption” addresses the pressing need to discuss the ethics of failing to preserve fertility as this current practice may no longer be considered ethically appropriate for populations for whom established techniques are available. The current standard practice involves merely offering the option of fertility preservation procedures to children and young adults with cancer. Previous ethical discussions of fertility preservation have focused on the question of whether it is appropriate to perform fertility preservation procedures for a particular patient. The question at the heart of this article suggests the new discussion needs to address the question, “is failing to proceed with fertility preservation ethically justifiable?’” (McDougall 2015). The article gives some…

Patients with renal failure experience a lot of imbalances while receiving dialysis. Electrolyte imbalances are the most common, usually presenting with hyperkalemia. This happens when the amount of calcium is more than the kidneys can excrete. Arrhythmias may also occur during dialysis. It too causes an imbalance of electrolytes or changes in acid-base homeostasis. Severe cramping, muscle spasms, and low blood pressure are some complications experienced from dialysis. This happens because of the removal of increased volume of fluids. Net filtration pressure is damaged as a result of increased permeability of the membrane. This too causes a homeostatic imbalance. Urinary incontinence and retention, thrombosis, and sleeping problems may all occur from the use of dialysis. (Steadyheatlh, 2004)…
