Malala Yousafzai is the type of leader who gained her power by doing good things, and continues to use her power for good. Some may not consider her a leader, or think that she has power but in many important ways she is and does. Malala has lead girls all across the world to stand for themselves, and taught them to understand that they have a right to an education.
Malala was born in Mingora, Pakistan in 1997 (Profile). As a child, Malala was taught by her father to value education (Bio). This is most likely the reason that education is such an important issue to Malala. In 2008 the Taliban began targeting girl’s schools in Pakistan, it was this year, when Malala was 11 that she gave one of her first speeches in Swat Valley
