The maiden voyage was a disaster because a profusion of things went wrong. First off, they weren’t prepared for a disaster. They hadn’t disscused the emergency exit procedure in case of an
emergency. If the captain and crew had explained what to do in a crisis, many more people probably would have survived. It was also a disaster because the ship was supposedly “unsinkable” however, once it hit the iceberg, it sank within 2 hours. Another reason is that the crewmen and lookouts were not doing their job correctly. How is it possible to miss a heinous thing like that? The Titanic had received many warnings that there was an iceberg ahead. In fact, they obtained many warnings from a plethora of different ships. However, they just ignored them and wouldn’t decelerate or caution anyone. If the Titanic would have been better arranged, numerous more people would have survived. The Titanic lacked many things. Not only did they not have enough lifeboats, but they also didn’t fill them to their carrying capacity. Women and children were boarded first, leaving many of the crewmen on the ship and allowing the women to row the boats. They were inexperienced and became weary quicker than the men would. The people on the ship didn’t even know what to do because they hadn’t practiced the emergency drill. People were plummeting off, panicking, stealthily sneaking onto boats because of this. Had they practiced it, they would have had a greater amount of people survive.
