In April of 1865, the Civil War is coming to an end and reconstruction is about to begin. The U.S. is about to show a never before seen level of resilience as it rebuilds and reforms itself.
The south was in shambles and many lives had been lost on both sides but the U.S. persisted and started to rebuild the South. Then, the radical Republicans took matters from the president into their own hands and made things much harder for the South than Abraham Lincoln did. resilience is the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. A group of terrorists snuck onto four airplanes and took them over mid-flight. Two smashed into the World Trade Center, one into the Pentagon, and another was planned to hit the White House. Some passengers found out through social media that their plane was hijacked and were able to take it back over. Sadly, the plane crashed because the passengers did not have any experience flying planes. Though there were thousands of deaths America fought on. Americans donated to families who had lost love ones, gave money to fire stations to help in the search for any survivors and even volunteered to help out at ground zero themselves. President Bush himself visited ground zero to give thanks to all the volunteers and give his prayers to those that had lost loved ones. An attack that was supposed to bring the U.S. down the weakest it had ever been and instead put the U.S. at its strongest. This shows how the U.S. can bounce back from extremely tragic
