Resilience
Although a number of negative consequences of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) have been identified in most of the studies, research has also shown that some survivors of CSA are fairly resilient and do not demonstrate these negative outcomes. Resilience according to (Wilcox & Richards, 2002) is the ability of an individual to successfully adapt successfully to adverse and traumatic life events. This is having the capacity to cope with life’s setbacks and challenges (Meon & Erickson, 1991). Wilcox & Richards (2002) assert that traumatic circumstances play an important role
in mediating individual’s own physical and psychological limitations.
