“Revolution by Jennifer Donnelly is set in likely 2000-2010. But, the other main character’s, Alexandrine, timeline is set from around 1790 to the 1800s. Andi lives in Brooklyn, but most of the plot takes place in Paris, and Alexandrine is only ever in France.

Her father decides to take Andi to Paris, for a change scenery can help her move on and finish her school project. She stays with her dad’s friends, who happen to collect artifacts from france, including from during the revolution. She finds a guitar case here, which was found hidden in the catacombs. As she tries to fix the lock on the case, she opens a secret compartment with the key Truman found. Inside, items along with a portrait and cloves, is a journal, written by a 17 year old girl during the French Revolution. Somewhat later, Andi meets a man, Jules, who plays music with her and helps her pay for food. Along with him, she meets the man’s friend, Virgil, who plays music with her as well. She takes a liking to Virgil and the two end up talking a lot. She is working on her project, so she can go home to Brooklyn on Sunday, and as she does this, she reads the journal she found and finds a relation to the girl’s struggle, and feels the feelings Alexandrine must have felt during her adventure. Andi’s father, who is a nobel prize winning geneticist, is working with his friend to the find results on what really happened
