Standpoint theory refers that the marginalized group can give a max total picture on a particular topic as they experience the domination more acutely than the privileged group. It is hard for an outsider to decide the marginalized group of a different society. If we consider the case of RAWA and apply discourse analysis, complexity and multidimensional framework of RAWA can be understood. RAWA uses the discourse of women empowerment. Its aim is to empower women and give them the leadership position in the organization. By doing this RAWA also supports the feminist discourse of women’s empowerment. However RAWA has male supporters which can be understood with the discourse of hegemonic masculinity.
On the other hand in the case of the US, it can be understood that the USA used the discourse of women protection by the state to justify their act. If we analyze it, the role of media can be blamed as well. One of the discourses of media is not to talk about the controversial issue and to focus on the problems. As a result, the media of the US pictured Afghan women’s suffering with the help of their obligation for wearing burqa and not attending school.
