First of all, MKL exhibits his ethical authority throughout his confident and fervent tone in I Have a Dream speech. For instance, he started his speech saying in a fervent tone “ I am happy to join with you today in what will go down in history
as the greatest demonstration for freedom in the history of our nation.” This statement is easily proved since he was talking before more than 25,000 people of all age, race and social class and after more than 50 years his words still marking U.S. history. Then, in the fourth paragraph of his speech, he cites the Declaration of Independence and Constitution “This note was the promise that all men, yes black men as well as white men, would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” This quote provides a strong ethos appeal and credibility with the reader.
