Chili’s argument has become more credible by being formal and applying personal experiences. She is formal in her argument, which widens her persuasiveness. If Ms. Chili has an angry tone, she will not persuade her audience to agree with her view. By having an angry tone, Ms. Chili can only help the audience that already agree with her argument that there should be an attendance policy. In her article, she respectfully mentions counter arguments, in which she formally tries to persuade the reader to change their way of thinking. Ms. Chili can persuade more of her audience to agree with her view because she illustrates that she understands the counter argument. By understanding the other side respectfully, Ms. Chili gains the respect of the audience that disagrees with her argument. Ms. Chili also uses personal experiences to help her argument be more credible. She mentions that as a professional, students benefit more by guided discussion about the assignments. By using this experience is demonstrates that if students attend class they will understand the material better. She also mentions that as a mother of two it is difficult to attend classes passed a certain time because she has to take care of her children. First of all, the rules of the attendance policy are strict. The attendance policy does not distinguish between excused or unexcused absences. I do not think that having an unexcused absence is the same as an excused absence. I think that there should be a difference between an excused absence and an unexcused absence. Secondly, the policy is placed to help college students be more responsible. But, I feel like having a attendance policy is not teaching student to be responsible but it is placed there to act like a parent. In high school, some parents would wake their children up to go to school and it was mandatory but, the attendance policy is acting like the parents by forcing them to go to class. College students should learn responsibility by facing the consequences for not going to class. In the professional world, the employers are not going to have an attendance sheet going around to see if their employees are in. the employees have to take responsibility and show up and face the punishment if they do not show up for work. I think that certain classes should be a little stricter on their attendance policy. Fro the classes that are more vital to the professional world should apply an attendance policy that would help students learn but not force them to go to
