Thoreau’s speech had a few thing that would make it difficult for the modern reader to comprehend. In Thoreau’s speech he repeating himself a few times throughout the writing. This constant repetition lowers the amount of excitement, and makes the speech seam less interesting. Thoreau’s speech is so long that it is hard to read the entire speech in one sitting. Some of Thoreau’s words he used in his speech were sometimes difficult to understand. Someone who is not well versed in historical or religious events might have a tough time comprehending what Thoreau is trying to say. I personally have a hard time reading and understanding text, so I listened to the speech and read along with it. This helped me get a better sense of what the speech
