“December, 1963 (Oh What a Night)” by Ricky Valley and the Four Seasons, is a song about a one night stand where the singer loses his virginity to a beautiful woman that he met in December 1963. Ricky Valley and the Four Seasons created December, 1963 in a major key, which indicates that the song is meant to be a happy, fun, and all together joyous. The Melody of the piece shows that the song remains in conjunct motion with a melodic flow that is staccato. This can be heard as the song stays relatively steady throughout, but the melody is separated by small intervals.
