The dark sky: a turbulent time for what had been the Roman Empire. The stars: the men of God who continued to stand for the truth of God’s word. Some stars were shown to be brighter than others, but through the good and the bad, the bright and the dimly lit, the Holy Spirit continued to work, and the Lord’s word was preserved and spread. During this time the papacy, due to situational changes, became an office, not only of faith, but political action. The many positive actions in regards to these two areas within the papacy gave the people confidence in their abilities. It gave them confidence that the papacy would be able to dictate what was right through areas of faith, and also to direct areas that had been foreign to them previously, that of the political realm.
