Road Trips I. No matter how old I have been I always get excited to go on a road trip. It was always a relief when it was my chance to sit up front since we had a car full of people. II. Purpose of narrative speech is to tell about what I had done on my road trip/family reunion to Montana. 1. Topics to discuss in speech A. Mount Rushmore B. Crazy Horse C. Bad Lands D. Corn Palace E. III. Body of Speech 1. Went to Mount Rushmore with my Grandma, Grandpa, cousin Marley and Sister Emily. We took several pictures and it was really incredible to see this structure. For people who do not know, The Mount Rushmore National Memorial is a sculpture carved into the granite face of Mount Rushmore near Keystone, South Dakota 2. While seeing Mount Rushmore we also went on a tour to see Crazy Horse which was still being worked on when we visited. Sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski and Lakota Chief Henry Standing Bear officially started Crazy Horse Memorial June 3, 1948. The Memorial’s mission is to honor the culture, tradition and living heritage of North American Indians. When I saw this Structure they had the carving of the head done. 3. We then got back into the car and along the way stopped at the Bad Lands. I really enjoyed climbing around in the Bad Lands until I saw a huge sign that said Watch Out for Rattle Snakes. These striking geologic deposits contain one of the world’s richest fossil beds. Ancient mammals such as the rhino, horse, and saber-toothed cat once roamed here. Bison, bighorn sheep, prairie dogs, and black-footed ferrets live today. 4. Next we came across the Corn Palace which is exactly how it sounds. The Corn Palace is decorated with several murals made out of 12 different colors of corn, each framed with native grasses, straw, milo, and sourdock. A local farmer grows all the
