Robert De Niro's Last Speech
If I were to recreate the video for a 21st century audience, I would cast an older actor such as Robert De Niro to be the speaker, and I’d set the scene in a hospital. The reason for casting an older actor is because I’d want the beginning of the speech to be a reflection on his past and all that he’s gone through, and the ending of the speech to foreshadow what his future will look like. With the setting as a hospital, the opening scene could be Robert De Niro talking in a hospital room while a baby is held in a nurse's arms. In the same room could be a whining young boy in a school uniform as his mother walks with him through the door to go to school. Next, the scene would move from the hospital room into the corridor as 2 young people in …show more content…

This man would be a representation of the soldier. As he continues walking through the corridor, a doctor consoling and giving advice to a family would demonstrate the fifth act of life, as he has gained knowledge and is a respectable man. As Robert de Niro comes to the end of the speech, he changes his tone as he thinks of what the future holds for him. He passes an old man walking with a cane, representing the sixth act of life, and finally he ends in a hospital room. In the room is an old and dying man, representing the seventh and final act of life. Robert De Niro began in a hospital room that brought life to the stage, and ended back in a hospital room where life was ending. This entire scene is similar to that of the second video, as each life stage is being acted out as the speaker makes his way around the room, which is entirely different from the first video as the speaker did not have interactions with any life stages other than that of the school boy. In the first video, since the speaker was relatively alone as he moved across the stage, it wasn’t quite as easy to comprehend each stage of life, but with this version it would be simple to see what all seven ages of man are

If I would to be a Hollywood producer and if I remade this for a 21st century speaker, I would use a celebrity person named Miranda Crosgrow cast as a speaker, and I would set the scene in San Diego, California. The reason why I would put it in San Diego, California, is because it is very nice there and there is a lot of people to be found there that can be useful for a lot of things. There are Celebrities there as well. It is just a good city overall since it’s in California anyways, where there is good weather, a good scenery is always good. The “Seven Ages of Man,” by William Shakespeare’s play I think that Miranda Crosgrow would be good as the speaker and I could compare her to this act of William Shakespeare’s scene. Miranda Crowgrow played…

In the piece “The Seven Ages of Man,” the speaker is comparing life to a dramatic play in which people are like actors in a play. The speaker speculates that our world is merely a stage in which people make an entrance (live) or make an exit (die). In this poem, man plays seven parts in his lifetime in between the entrance and exit. A man starts out as a helpless infant and then becomes a whiny schoolboy who eventually becomes a lover and a soldier. In the latter part of a man’s life he is a wise judge, an old man that loses strength and all of his senses and becomes dependent on others as if he is an infant again. A man’s final stage is death leaving behind a corpse and a story full of events. If I were, a Hollywood movie producer, and I were remaking “The Seven Ages of Man,” by Shakespear, for a 21st century audience, I would use the celebrity Brad Pitt as the speaker in a small city in Europe. Brad Pitt is very…

Rodriguez’s speech means that intellect is not simply defined by going to school and getting conventionally good grades, but by the pursuit of knowledge. He means that education does not end after high school or even college, our minds should constantly be feeding and learning new things so we can continue to grow. Learning is messy, learning contains mistakes, it may look like a series of failures but if you persist you can achieve great things. Learning even looks different on everyone and that is not strange. We can become so focused on just getting by with good grades in school we can forget what an amazing opportunity we have, and when we can access to each other’s minds the possibilities are endless.…

The United States of America was founded by a group of pilgrims that settled in the New World. One of these pilgrims, named George Washington, helped lead the settled pilgrims to freedom from Great Britain in 1776. In the years that followed this separation from Great Britain, many things changed for the pilgrims, including the development of a government controlled by the people with a new constitution that gave inalienable rights for the people of this new nation. In addition to this, the pilgrims learned how to cultivate peace and harmony with the Foreign World without risking European influence on their governmental structure. Another change that was made was fair and equal taxing upon its citizens. This taxation was necessary to ensure…

Robert Gray most definitely provokes thought and stirs emotion through an effective use of language and techniques used in his poems. One of his major messages are those connected with mans effect on the environment and our constant need to create something new and yet, forget about what we already have and where that ends up. Also the sense of our society almost becoming, un-Australian and very international.…

Colin Powell life is interesting because he was the first African-American Chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. The commencement speech Powell gives at Howard University show his willingness and determination to overcome challenges. Not letting his race put a limitations on what he could or couldn’t do, shows that anyone can do anything and be anyone in this nation. It also shows how times have changed from the past from African Americans being slaves to running president and doing great things. Calvin Coolidge once stated, “If you don’t say anything, you won’t be called on to repeat it.” Coolidge seemed to live by the principle, of avoiding incrimination by remaining silent, earning him the legendary nickname: “Silent Cal.” Ironically, in his first speech to the Massachusetts State Senate, Coolidge preached the importance to “do the day’s work” without becoming “a demagogue”. The overarching value of this speech, to standing up for what’s right, is one that has become increasingly evident in today’s society. Far too often, our country’s youth is falling victim to sacrificing their values to save face in the eyes of their peers.…

The inspiration for the concept being “mortality” derives from the victims who suffered the July 7th, 2005 bombings in London, hence the video tributes that appear in a short period of the performance (the appearance of the victims shown). During the political piece, we appreciate that the dancers symbolise “spirits” and Akram Khan portrays the role of a father passing away, transferring his life onto his son (the 10 year old boy) who embodies this sense of faith and legacy. The relation between the dance and the 7/7 bombings explains the battle between life and death, which is conveyed through the stage scenery of the setting sun and the dust.…
