Robert Nozick's Experience Machine

Robert Nozick has an experiment called the experience machine. If the people choose to stay inside the machine, they can freely experience anything that they want selectively. However, they can also choose to stay outside of the machine and experience in the real world unpredictably. The life, which I consider to worth living in, is a life I can go out and experience with my friends and family, not to stay in a machine. In addition, it does matter whether things actually happens. There are many adventures in the real world, in which not all of the people have experienced. The machine works on the knowledge of the people who want to go inside. The person, who chooses to stay inside the machine, has limited knowledge about the outside world;
therefore, the experience machine will also has limit experiences based on the person’s knowledge. The second argument is the people choose to stay inside the machine forever and the outside world keeps on developing on technology, the people who choose staying inside are missing new experiences about the outside world. The first argument is the machine has limited experiences based on the people’s knowledge about the world.
For example, if I go into the machine, I would experience any good things that I choose personally. Moreover, I am young and until now, I haven’t experienced any traumatic or any major challenges in my life. If I go into the machine, I will forever live with the pinky princess dreams and not select any challenges. Living means experiencing new things. Therefore, there is no fun in living in world that is too perfect without any challenges. I have limit knowledge about the world, and I also believe that no one in this world knows everything about this universe. There will be one day when the person who stays in the machine is out of ideas to experience. In conclusion, living inside the machine will be a set of repeated dreams in which the person cannot get out. I choose to stay outside the real world because the real world offers unpredicted experiences and numerous interesting challenges that I cannot ever think of. Even though the machine has beautiful and appeal benefits, the life of the person who choose to stay inside the machine will be limited by their own knowledge the world, and this real world has various adventures for people to discover both physically and mentally. Staying outside and experience both challenges and easy steps myself will gain me more knowledge than the experience
machine. Secondly, staying inside the machine is a way to miss having new experiences about the world. The world technology has been its peak in developing for past two decades. If I choose to stay inside before Pokémon Go was invented, I will never know how to play Pokémon Go. Therefore, I am missing new things about the world. In another word, time will stop to the point I get into the machine. Staying outside the world, I can experience the changes in the world. I will know who will be the next President or new secret items on In n Out’s menu. Life is unpredictable and that is what makes life enjoyable and worth living in. Moreover, time stops when the person steps inside the machine, which also means that that person is dead. Dead people do not get updates about the real living world and so do the people inside the machine. In another word, I have to exchange my life to live like a death person. In conclusion, staying inside the machine is a way to miss experiencing new adventures; therefore, living outside the real world is the best option. However, some people argue that they can achieve their dreams in which they will never be able to do in real life if they step into the experience machine.
There is nothing human cannot do if they don’t try. Bill Gates dropped out of school to follow his dreams, and now he becomes the richest man in the world. Ed Sheeran was once a street performer, and now all of the songs in his new album are on top places music chart all over the world. The machine offers great benefits, but the price for it is not worth it. If I have had a chance to argue with the people who want to go inside the machine, I would ask: “Have they ever tried to achieve their dreams?” What is the point of living in a world that I have no one to care about because they are all illusion from the
machine?
