Roger was still rodeoing in his early twenties. He had other jobs like working in the oil field for his best friend's family company and he said this was the hardest work that he had ever done. He quit rodeoing when he married and had his first son that in 1967. He decided to open a restaurant called Roger’s Burgers it was a great success. By the way he still is one of the most amazing cooks we know. Years later he decided to look for gold in the Idaho Springs area because Roger had a neighbor who work for the gold mining company in the West Denver right off I-70. He got the others fired up to go and they decided all five of them to try mining. There was a truck driver that actually told them all about it. that there was a great stake waiting to be claimed. He knew for sure it was a sure thing. But it was a very difficult area to mine the elevation was about 12,300 feet. Sometimes, it would snow by August first and stay in the valley until May. he love this work as an electrician. To Roger it was always interesting and there is always some new problems to solve everyday. He was an electrician for 40 years . He loved the change of scenery and the new challenges. It gave him a chance to travel around and to have vacations. He did this for many years. One of his favorite stories was on his first job they went to New York City. He and his fellow workers were walking through New York looking up at the tall buildings there were four of them. A stranger said “So you guys are from Oklahoma.” he knew because he heard they're wonderful drawl. He could tell by the way they were looking at the big city it was really impressing them. He didn't stop working until illness forced him to retire early. He still loves electrical work and once in awhile will do it. He needs to rest due to his chronic
