The style of dance in Rome was consisting from upbeat movements to energetic music all the way to slow, graceful movements. All forms of dance that the Roman’s had used were inspired by the Etruscans and the Greeks.
When the Etruscans were conquered by the Romans, many aspects from their culture like was passed on to Rome. One of these aspects was the graceful, slow style of dancing seen in ballroom dancing today. Roman dancing was also inspired by Greek dancers, their way of dancing to fast and vibrant music was passed to Rome through all the different plays that was produced in many amphitheaters in Greece and Rome.

One way dancing was present was in plays and theatrical performances. In those scenarios, the dancers would wear large, bright and extravagant outfits as their costumes. The performers would dance very dramatically, with large motions and loud music. This way people sitting in the far back could see them dance and know what they were trying to tell the viewers.
