Romeo and Juliet
Who or What do you think is most to blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet? Explain your answer with reference to the play.

I believe that all of the characters in the play had a part to play in the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet, but I think that some characters are much more to blame than others. I think that the three characters who carry the greatest amount of blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet are Capulet, Lady Capulet and Friar Lawrence.
I think that the person most to blame for the death of Romeo and Juliet is Juliet’s father, Capulet. He was never supportive of Juliet in anything she did and he would not give her much of a say in anything she did and in anything she wanted to do. He had the final word in everything, causing her to dislike him more and more over time. He didn’t take into account anything she wanted and he was going to force her to marry Paris only giving her a few days notice. Although he did not know about her love for a Montague and she should have told him because then it may have not led to such a rash decision so quickly.
Lady Capulet was also to blame because of the fact that she did not help Juliet and she did not stand up to her husband when her daughter needed her to for example when Juliet told her father that she did not want to marry Paris, Capulet hit Juliet and was aggressive towards Juliet and Lady Capulet just let him do it and didn’t attempt to stop him or to save Juliet from his rage. Lady Capulet was a coward and that I think is why she is partly to blame for Juliet’s death. Friar Lawrence was to blame for the death of Romeo and also Juliet because, first of all, the Friar unwisely agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet, even though he knows it will cause later problems. Friar Lawrence should have been more mature about the decisions they made, and the advice that he gave to Romeo. I believe that he did not consider the consequences of the advice he gave or the actions that he performed. I also think that

Not only the Nurse and Friar Lawrence was at fault for the death of Romeo and Juliet but also Capulet. This is because of his actions towards Juliet and his character. His character changes from being a nice, polite and caring father whereas after the death of Tybalt, he becomes this angry typical type father. Not knowing how Juliet truly feels, he forces her to get married to Paris even though she didn’t want to. He made her feel pressurized and also made her feel scared of what was going to happen next. He made her feel trap like she doesn’t have a choice to weather to marry him or not. Therefore, he should also be blamed for the death of Romeo and Juliet.…

Blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet can be pointed in several different directions. Not only characters were accountable for the calamity. Three main non-human contributors to the tragedy were fate, impulsiveness, and time. Fate played a part in Romeo's banishment from Mantua. His absence from the scene set a clear path for Paris to pursue his love interest. Romeo's impulsive behaviour guided him to make the decision to end his life after hearing the news of Juliet's death. Time was sped up when Old Capulet decided to bring Juliet's wedding forward a day. All these points were main contributors towards the tragedy in Romeo and Juliet.…

First of all, the one that are responsible for their death is the Capulet. The first reason is Juliet’s mom doesn’t spend a lot of time with her and understand her. That is the most important thing that parents should do for their kids, but Juliet doesn’t have that. Most of her time, she spends with the nurse and relied on her. That make the distance between Juliet and her mom more farther. “ What say’st thou? Hast thou not a word of joy? Some comfort, nurse.” (Act 3, scene 5, pg 97). She tell the nurse to comfort her when she feel bad instead of her parents. The second reasons is the Capulet don’t listen to her and only do what they think are the best…

Death is and always will be a hard topic to talk about, especially when someone is to blame. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, many characters could take responsibility for the deaths of the young lovers, but who is ultimately to blame? In my opinion, Romeo is the main cause of their deaths. He rushed into marriage without thinking ahead as to what they would do or tell their rival families. He then got himself banished from Verona for killing Tybalt, and lastly, instead of moving on from Juliet, he killed himself.…

They each contributed to the problem in some way. The prince says “Capulet, Montague, see what a scourge is laid upon your hate,” (pg 130) implying that the fault lays in the feud. However, the servants reigniting the feud, Juliet and especially Romeo rushing their love, Lord Capulet’s stubbornness, Friar Lawrence’s needlessly complicated plan, and many other characters’ flaws are all to blame. Some have varying extents of blame, for example even though Romeo and Juliet rushed their love, teenage hormones are a reasonable excuse for this so some of the blame can be alleviated from them. Whereas the feud between the two families is the obstacle that made Romeo and Juliet’s love complicated to begin with, which puts more of the blame on the heads of the households. But in general, everyone can be said to have some amount of blame for the death of Romeo and…
