Shakespeare is the author of Romeo and Juliet. He wrote it in between the years of 1594 and 1596. Romeo and Juliet were known as the star crossed lovers. Romeo was a Montague and Juliet was a Capulet. Both families were in a long time feud until one day the Capulet’s were hosting a feast that you had to be invited to. Because the Capulet’s and Montague’s were feuding, the boys had to avoid being seen so they wore masks. At the time Romeo was seeing someone, named Rosaline, that he was so called in love with until he laid eyes on Juliet. He believed it was love at first sight so he had to see her again.
After the feast, he snuck into Capulet territory and went to see Juliet while she was out on her balcony. They spoke and fell in love even more. Juliet suggested that they get married in secrecy and Romeo agreed and went on his way to see Friar Lawrence. Tybalt challenges Romeo to a fight and Romeo disagrees so he walks away. Romeo refuses to respond to Tybalt’s insults so Mercutio, Romeo’s friend, and Tybalt begin to antagonize each other. They fight and Mercutio perishes due to a fatal stab wound. This arouses anger in Romeo which resulted in Tybalt’s death that causes Romeo’s banishment.
Friar Lawrence’s reaction to Romeo’s banishment is anger. He calls it a deadly sin. The tragedy was also their parents fault because of their feud and their strictness. I truly believe they had a genuine love for each other, but if the feud had ended before they got married and Juliet’s father wasn’t so strict then she would’ve been able to marry who she wanted and they could’ve avoided this tragedy and all the other tragedies that happened.
