Romeo And Juliet Choices

Personal choices has a much greater impact on the characters then their destiny. Their destiny was a series of events that happen to lead up to the tragedy. It was the characters personal choice to do what they did. The events that lead up to the tragedy were their personal choice also. Therefore, the character’s choices on how they lived their lives were furthermore effective than their destiny.

Romeo quoted,”Here’s to my love![Drinks.] O true apothecary!” (S.S. p. 473). Romeo drank the potion by choice. It wasn’t Romeo’s destiny to drink the potion, he never thought that falling in love would lead to his own death. It was also Juliet's decision to drink that potion and it was just poor judgement on what was going to happen. Throughout the story the two characters did not think about the future and what was going to happen.
They were “star-crossed¨ lovers. It was a series of events that lead to the death of all the characters. ¨A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life¨ (S.S. p. 377). Romeo and Juliet's love for eachother was controlled by their destiny. Lovers whose relationship failed are known as star-crossed
