Romeo And Juliet Innocent Quotes
“I’ll go along, no such sight to be shown/But to rejoice in splendor of mine own” (I.II.100-101). In the tragedy Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, Romeo, a heartbroken man, desperately tries to find a way out of his depression. Benvolio encourages Romeo to attend a party in which he meets his star-crossed lover, Juliet. Due to Benvolio’s encouragement, Romeo was doomed to both his and Juliet’s tragic end. If it were not for Benvolio’s words and actions of encouraging Romeo to go to the Capulet’s and meet another woman, these devastating events would have never occurred. However, Benvolio was with Romeo when he killed Tybalt and encouraged Romeo to run away to escape the death penalty for killing a Capulet. Benvolio says, “Romeo, away, be gone!/The citizens are up, and Tybalt slain/Stand not amazed./The Prince will doom thee death/ If thou art taken. Hence, be gone, away!” (III.I.125-128). If Romeo had stayed he might have been executed, leaving Juliet in sorrow, but alive along with Paris. Benvolio was no innocent bystander because he tried to protect Romeo, but really initiated the events that led to his death.
Benvolio is the main factor that led to the deaths of many. Benvolio convinces Romeo to attend the Capulet’s party in order to get over Rosaline. While at the party, Romeo meets Juliet, causing the beginning of their unfortunate plight. After the party, Benvolio was ridiculing Romeo’s actions, causing Romeo to be filled with anger. The first event that paved the way towards the tragedy was the fight between the Capulets and Montagues. This event was caused by Romeo's and Juliet's respective families' poor choice to engage in the battle. When the story started, the two families were already quarrelling. Then Mercutio and Benvolio further taunted and provoked the Capulet family by "biting their thumbs" at them. This caused the Capulets to become enraged and battle the Montagues. Because of the continuous fighting, the prince declared that anybody who fights again will be punished by death. This declaration foretold the final tragedy of the two young lovers. One can see that this event was directly caused by Mercutio and Benvolio's poor judgment to further inflame an already heated situation.…

We’ve all had that one time something really good, almost spectacular, happened and you thought to yourself, “This is exactly how it’s supposed to be.” Like it was destined to happen, like it was fate. In Act One of William Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet, fate was emphasized by using foreshadowing with Benvolio. The two families, Capulet and Montague, have been feuding over many years and have had three civil brawls in the streets of Verona. Romeo is a young man who belongs to the family of Montague and is depressed because he’s in love with a woman who doesn’t love him back. Meanwhile, Benvolio is trying to cheer him up by forcing him to go to the Capulet’s feast where he meets Juliet and falls in love with her at first sight. When…

    D) Benvolio and Romeo - Benvolio says that Romeo should go to the party so he can “Compare her face with some that I shall show, / And I will make thee think thy swan a crow” (I.iii.93-94). This shows that Benvolio is a friend because he wants the best for Romeo.…

Going in chronological order, the first main event, Romeo and Juliet meeting, was caused by fate. As with the entire play, a chain of events led up to that moment, which began with an illiterate servant who said, “God gi’ go-den. I pray, sir, can you read?” (p. 192). In this quote the servant and Romeo and Benvolio all happened to…

In William Shakespeare’s play Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is one of the only characters who takes time to think over her decisions. In addition to this, she sticks to the choices she makes despite anyone else’s input. This is shown through Juliet’s thoughts when her mother speaks ill of her one true love, Romeo. When her mother regards Romeo as a “villain” for murdering Juliet’s cousin, Juliet says “Villain and he be many miles asunder. - God pardon him! I do, with all my heart” (3.5.85-86). In this quote, Juliet is expressing how she forgives Romeo for what he had done and that she does not think of him as a villain. Her saying this shows her fidelity and devotion to Romeo. Her lover for him is so strong that she is willing to forgive him for…

Romeo going to the party was a hasty decision and in turn he finds himself with consequences too large. A servant was wondering the streets of Verona with a scroll he could not read. Romeo offered to read it and found out that his true love was going but Benvolio tells him that if they go to the party Romeo will find other girls much prettier. After the fight, Romeo is seen grieving about his purged heart and tells Benvolio goodbye, but Benvolio tells Romeo that he will “go along”(1,1,196) and if Romeo leaves him, then he will “do [him] wrong”(1,1,197). True friendship and loyalty was exhibited in this scene which is represented by the color blue on the mask. I put blue as the background of the mask because it’s meaning is loyalty and Benvolio shows this by tagging along with his friends and trying to soothe them and communicate with them.…

Another significant character that contributes to Romeo and Juliet's death by thinking with his heart was Romeo himself. Mercutio is the best friend of Romeo. He decides to provoke a fight with Tybalt, Juliet's cousin. At first, the fight was for fun, but Tybalt ended up stabbing Mercutio, which resulted in him dying. Romeo found out about his best friend's death, and he wanted revenge. He sought out Tybalt and ended up slaying him. Because of this, the Prince banished Romeo for his actions. Juliet's nurse ends up telling her that Romeo killed Tybalt and he is banished. This brings a lot of misery to Juliet, she says, “Some word there was, worser than Tybalt’s death, that murdered me. I would forget it fain,…

This scene is ironic because Benvolio and Mercutio think Romeo is roaming about thinking of Rosaline, but Romeo was actually jumping the wall and looking for Juliet, who is who he really loves. “Mercutio. He is wise. And, on my life, hath stol’n him home to bed. Benvolio. He ran this way and leapt this orchard wall. Call, good Mercutio. Mercutio. In his mistress’ name I conjure only but to raise up him.”…

One reason Romeo is responsible for Juliet’s death and his own, is because he made the choice to go to the masquerade ball. If Romeo never went to the ball, he would not have meet Juliet. If he never met Juliet then he would not have fallen head over heels in love with her, enough to kill himself. “I’ll go along, no such sight to be shown, But to rejoice in splendor of mine own.” (1.2.103-104.) in these lines Romeo says he will join Benvolio on going to Capulet’s ball. Romeo, not knowing one decision could create his fate, chose to try to “meet new people” instead of longing for Rosaline.…

Benvolio’s respectfulness of the Prince’s requests, such as no more disruptions induced by the Montague-Capulet feud, consequently could have stopped Mercutio from being killed, Romeo from killing Tybalt, Romeo being banished, and subsequently, perhaps hindered Romeo’s unfortunate death. Even so, Benvolio could not convince Mercutio to go home, furthering the plot toward Romeo’s demise. Additionally, the peacefulness and reason that Benvolio possesses could have potentially had the same effect, but he was not adamant enough, while his accompanying characters were too stubborn or too vengeful.…
