In the very first act of the play, Romeo was deeply "in love" with a woman named Rosaline. He thought that she was the one but he was devastated and angry when he found out that she did not love him back. He was lovesick and felt rejected. He was very depressed right up until the night he looked at Juliet.
Romeo falls in love way too fast. When Romeo first glanced at Juliet at the masquerade party, he fell in love with her. This shows how quickly Romeo moves on and falls in love. He says, “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight, For I never saw true beauty till this night.” (1.5.59-60). He tells Friar Lawrence about her and how he has never seen a woman so beautiful than Juliet. When he says, “Did my heart love till now”, he is saying he never really loved Rosaline, but he did love Juliet.
Romeo has a personality that can be very harsh and pushy at times. In act 2, scene 2, Romeo says he wants to marry Juliet. She says, “Although I joy in thee, I have no joy of this contract tonight.” (2.2.23-24). She is saying she enjoys the true love between the two but she not that night, it is so soon since they just met each other that night.
Another of Romeo’s tragic flaw is his impetuous personality. He can sometimes act very violent. Romeo goes after what he wants no matter what the outcome of the situation may be. For example, it was wrong for him to kill
