Ronda Rousey Argumentative Essay

Many people don’t understand the actual feeling of temporary. Anyone outside of a terminal situation, and see that it will ultimately come to an end. However, within that situation, it often can feel endless, as though it will never end, because it is all that has ever been known. A few weeks ago, Ronda Rousey, an Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter admitted to the world that she was suicidal after her career ended. She had completed a phenomenal fighting career. But the very thing she had oriented her life around, her passion, had come to an end. Unfortunately, not only had her career come to an end, but she lost her last fight. As I talked about the interview with people, many told me they thought she was overdramatic, or that she had no right to be upset after the career she had. But being a fighter was her life. She didn’t know any other lifestyle. When people hear her name, they envision her in the ring, or in some conjunction with UFC. Fighting was her identity. People who haven’t competed all their lives, could’t comprehend the heft of her career being done, let alone the dread of finishing on a loss. It’s all she knew, it’s what she had committed her life to. In her time of being a competitor, she didn’t see it as temporary. To people like me, who have always been in athletics, competing
Sports are why we had to turn down playdates in elementary school; why we had to say no to going to that one movie with our crush in junior high; why having a relationship in high school was difficult; why our teammates were our best friends, and maybe our only friends; why our bodies are broken; why we are willing to sit in a tub filled with ice and count down the hours till our next dose of Advil; why we have had to go physical therapy; why we have pulled countless all nighters to keep our grades, up in order to compete. All for the love of the
