1. The organization is a Senior Living Facility
2. The interview was with Bill Pratt who is the CEO and president of Westley Willows
I started my interview by saying Good Morning, and thanking Bill for taking the time to allow me to interview him.
Bill what type of organization would you say Wesley Willows is,” well Roscoe as you know Wesley willows is a senior living facility” and working here with all the unique feature, the way I personally describe the facility to my classmates is it is astonishing senior experience with beautiful town home and suites. “Do not forget we also have apartments” Bill I also like the library, and computer room that is available for the senior to use. And to some of my co-workers take advantage of the swimming pool and banquet hall that you made available for employees as well as seniors. “Thanks Roscoe, …show more content…
for mentioning that.”
Now getting back to the interview question
3. How would you describe the use of strategic management process to the organization? “Wesley Willows is always guided by a three-year strategic plan and that plan is a corporative effort of both management and the board of trustees.” Bill went on to explain how the filtering system works, basically there may be lots of good ideas, by using the filtering system they can determine which one is the most practical and will bring about the best ROI.
Value of the strategic management process to the organization? “The value is that we have one vision for the future of the organization and everyone is commented to the execution of that plan. And again it narrows down the ideas and the one chosen should bring the best ROI.” 5. What is your target market? “Roscoe our target market is the 55+ age group and we focus only on the 7% of the senior in that age group that would consider living in a senior facility.” Bill went on to explain their focus is on marketing to the people in Rockford, and surrounding areas. He also explained some of the marketing efforts is focused on how beautiful Wesley Willows is with all the fun activities, dinning, recreation to be enjoyed by friends and family. “Again the uniqueness of Wesley Willows over other Senior Living facilities is emphasis with brochures we give them.” 6.
Does the organization have a crisis management plan in their strategic plan for a long-term crisis? “We do several years ago we put together a crisis plan if financially we began to suffer. Or occupancy began to drop we outline the steps we would take depending on the severity of the crisis. It was a plan develop by management shared and discuss and approve by our board.” Then he explains that by them owning so much valuable property during financial crisis some property may be sold. “And he mentions about funds that are reserved. “There are funds set aside just for that purpose” 7. I learned that the president does not make decision without the approval of the board. And how every decision made by the organization must undergo an intensive filtering process, to determine the likely outcome of that venture. Also, the concept of making the Wesley Willows an enjoyable place for the senior, and the staff was thought of by president and board. That was one of the driving forces that lead them to allow staff as well as residence to enjoy everything from dinning to the activities
offered.
