Abstract
The Romans were thought to be the first to realize the benefit of trade with India. They chose to just have a part in the trade market however not attempt to gain control of the country. Eventually the
British chose to go into India with the idea of colonization. The Indians were for the colonization at first.
They realized the benefits of modern technology that the British could bring. However later they realized that they had lost all control of their country and were being treated as immigrants or second class citizens in their own country.

Such as, modernized goods and transportation and also help with education and healthcare. The downside to British control was that the Indian people were considered only half citizens despite it being their country. The British also controlled the economy, the government and brought technology to the country as it was being discovered ("Colonial india ," 2001).
Initially the Indian people accepted the British rule because of the benefits. The British had the
Indian people doing the hard labor for construction such as roads. The Indians were not able to run for any government positions. The Sepoys or Indian soldiers eventually decided to fight back. This came about when they realized some of the British practices went against their Islamic and hindu beliefs. This fight lasted around a year however resulted in the British having more control ("Colonial india ,"
2001).
Eventually the people of India came together as a whole to fight back. They started by creating the Indian National Congress and then the Muslim League. The fight led to India becoming an independent country. Some of the effects of the British are still present in Indian today. The Indian
