The United States Army must develop and train its officers into leaders capable of winning our nation’s wars without losing the trust and confidence of the soldiers that they lead. There is an immediate need for the establishment of dedicated Aviation Branch Officer Career Management Teams (OCMT) at the Brigade and Battalion level within the Army’s Combat Aviation Brigades (CABs) to ensure the Army’s officers are being developed to the fullest extent possible. To date, the Army has failed in that endeavor.…

Baxter-Kennedy clearly has the potential in most areas for leadership and management and with correct guidance will make a good Superior Officer. His attention should be to develop the leadership and coaching of others when those opportunities arise. His calm and pleasant demeanour is a key asset to his leadership style and the opportunity to attend a LRLC would give him the ability to be more projected in command of individuals. Responsibility and accountability activities should be sought to improve his management skill set. This development and growth will better serve his time left but also make better his transition into civilian life. Possessing the attributes in most of the areas required see Baxter-Kennedy well placed above most of…
ADRP 6-22 states “An Army Leader is anyone who by virtue of an assumed role or assigned responsibility aspires and influences people to accomplish organizational goals” The Army’s “Total Soldier Concept” seeks to highlight soldiers that are well rounded. These soldiers will possess more than the required job, technical and tactical competencies. These soldiers seek out more than the mandated military professional development, often obtaining college degrees in addition to their core duties.…
Sergeant Jones overhauled his dietary and workout routine in an effort to remedy his short comings. As a testament to this resolve, every PT assessment that he has participated in since his last unsatisfactory assessment has resulted in a composite score that exceeds the PT assessment standard. Sergeant Jones’ dedication to his career progression continued with him becoming fully red X waivered as a Senior Airman to accommodate the avionics section manning shortage, and subsequently forward deployed in the 7-level position as a…
