"Madison, what is going on?" a swarm of sobbing teenagers crowded around me. I walked through the small mob to the window and lifted up a blind. I felt a weak tap on my shoulder and jumped slightly.

"Please, explain what's going on," the teacher in the classroom begged, trying to hold back his tears. I pointed to the shambling corpses outside the window.

"T-Those things are attacking and k-killing humans," I stuttered, "I've only seen them once before." The teacher glanced out the window and gasped.

"What are they?" He asked in shock.

"Dead," I whispered. Everyone murmured questions and started sobbing louder. Then panic set in. People started praying for their lives while others started to run out of the classroom in a panic. A shattering

Locking the door, I directed for them to follow me so I could explain.

"So what is going on Madison?" Antoinette asked with concern in her voice.

"I've seen this happen once before," I began, "When I was younger, my family took everyone on a vacation. We went on a beautiful island. But things went wrong. My sister and I went exploring in the woods outside the cabin we rented."

"She had a sister?" Samie whispered to Antoinette.

"In the woods, we found an old abandoned building filled with medical supplies. We decided it was probably fine to check out so we went inside. There were strange paintings and markings on the walls, like an insane asylum. There was one room with a light still on. M-my sister walked into the room," I stuttered beginning to tear up, "I heard her scream and I ran into the room to see this thing eating her. I ran out of the building before he spotted me, but there were more everywhere. I ran to my parents with a crowd of them behind me. We managed to get off of the island, but my sister was one of them now."

Antoinette and Samie looked at each other. Tears streamed down my face like a river.

"Oh my god Madison, we never knew," Samie comforted me.

"How did they get from the island to here?" Antoinette

I sat in the corner, occasionally glancing up at the other faces. There was this one lady who looked like she was about to cry most likely because she was frightened, and there was this man who was shaking in fear. Seeing these faces just made the situation worse for me. I tightly squeezed my mom’s arm, hoping it would make me feel better…

“Sorry, sorry for what?” I stood staring confused at the girl with downcast eyes as she played with her hair, “you know, for what happened”. I looked at her like if she had just told me she was a purple cow. I was unsure of what she was talking about, Cynthia and I weren’t very good friends, we barely talked and we each had our own clique, so it was basically impossible for us to have had a fight if all we do is wave hello or talk during group assignments. Plus, I think I would’ve remembered an argument I had with someone. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms, I tapped my feet in annoyance and asked, “What happened?” she finally looked straight at me, her eyes grew wide, “you don’t know?” I threw my arms in the air, “know what!?” she took both my hands in hers and said with a sigh, “your sister passed away.”…

In the middle of the night, I woke up sweating and gasping for air I squirmed under my sheets as if they were large white hands, intent of choking me in my sleep. Taking a deep breath, I tried to calm myself down. I spent the rest of the night exhausted, but not willing to slip back into sleep. Finally, the sun rose from beyond the rolling green hills on the horizon. I rapidly got dressed and tried to smooth down my rumpled plain gray clothes. Every girl or woman on the whole Island of Alphaya, my home island, owned the same clothing. I hurried down the narrow hallway, the floorboards creaking with every step. I approached the dining table. Thea, my older sister, was sitting across from me, slowly eating a bowl of plain, watery oatmeal. Her…

It was a girl and she had a gun. She had it on my head as she was asking me who am I and where am I from. I told her that i’m from New York. But I did not tell her my name. She put the gun down and I asked her what is she doing here. She said,”I’m here because my family died and know i’m alone.” I told her that my family died and I asked if she has another gun I can use. She said she did and she gave me the gun. But then a man that was dying was running and pushed the girl out a window. So then I was alone again and I just waited for someone to find…
