There are many fun facts on St. Dominic and his order, the Dominican Order.To begin with, St. Dominic studied at the University at Palencia. He was appointed canon at Osma in 1199. He helped preach against the Albigensians, a heresy. He was given a house at Toulouse, and there Dominic founded an order dedicated to conversions of the Albigensians. His order was approved by Pope Honorius III. The Dominican ordered is headquartered in Rome. St. Dominic is also called Dominic
of Osma, Dominic of Caleruega, Dominic de Guzman, and Dominic Felix de Guzman.
One miracle attributed to St. Dominic is when St. Dominic raised a child from the dead. To start, a woman who had a child who wa severely ill went to hear Dominic preach, and she left the child alone. When the woman returned home she found out that her child had passed away, so the woman brought her child to St. Dominic. Since Dominic felt sorry for the woman he raised the child from the dead.
One other miracle attributed to St. Dominic was when he created abundant bread and wine. Firstly, when some members of the friar went onto the city to beg a woman had given them a loaf of bread. Later when they were returning a boy who had nothing, so they gave him the bread. When they came back Dominic told them to summon many people so they did. When they sat down Dominic said a prayer and two boys suddenly appeared and passed out bread to everyone and they had dozens to spare after. After the meal Dominic told some of the brothers o go to the wine closet and in it the closet was overflowing with wine.
St. Dominic was a very good person. He spent his life looking out for others and helping them. There were many cases where Dominic sold many of his things to give money to others or buy things for others. Indeed St. Dominic was a very good person and a good role model for today’s world.
