People have fears for many things from spiders to clowns. Due to the attacks on September 11, 2001, many Americans can now add another fear to that list. Something that was considered to be a convenience since it’s invention is now something people are replacing with long drives in their personal vehicles, buses and train rides for long distances. In some of these cases, one also goes…

Many videos have surfaced over the years since the attack on the World Trade Center. A majority of the films were of people running, screaming, and weeping over what was happening. Bystanders were in shock and couldn’t comprehend everything racing through their minds. Fear was in everyone’s eyes when the towers collapsed, not sure if they should help or run to safety. This feeling of fear was evident in Amy Sweeney's distress call to the air traffic control. Amy was a flight attendant on American Airlines Flight 11, one of the planes that crashed into the World Trade Center. The person in the air traffic control tower asked what she could see out of the window, she said "I see water. I see buildings. We are flying low. We are flying very, very low. We are flying way too low. Oh my God we are flying way too low. Oh my god!" And that is where the call ended, nothing but silence on the planes end. In Romeo and Juliet, often characters are fearful of what is going to happen. Juliet is terrified about drinking the potion that Friar Lawrence gives her to drink. What if she does not wake up? What if it didn’t work? Another is when Friar was in the tomb with a dead Romeo, Paris, and a distraught Juliet who wants to be with Romeo. He is frightened by the sounds outside, so he flees, he is later caught and forced to tell the truth about what happened. Fear makes people not think clearly, it clouds their brain and makes them do…

In the pursuits for a myriad of ideals, people often gloss over the necessities that accompany them. Like the oxygen in the air, such an indispensable requisite to sustain living organisms, is rarely noticed or conceived significantly in humans’ daily schedule. Perhaps, the world has grown too convoluted – in a sense that the influence of technologies has turned remarkably prominent to create impacts on humans’ proceedings and directions in life. Because of familiarity and ubiquity of advance equipments and cutting-edge facts, their negative impacts are too subtle to be noticed or cared. Yet such underlying problem must be brought to light for the sake of living itself. Living deliberately derives from a desire to stand up for one’s own instinctual ideal, with neither imitation nor limitation from social mirror and materialistic strains, and view life as a broad field in which the mind can ponder thoughts freely; this is the type of breakthrough that will guide one to live up a meaningful and tenacious existence.…

Whenever I watch the news or see it online of all of these places around the world suffering from poverty, bombing, constant terrorist attacks, I think about how grateful I am to be a citizen of the United States. I have been able to feel safe where I live even though we have seen terrorism happen in our homeland and poverty as well. I have been thankful to be raised by two amazing parents also. Some people around the world lose their parents when they are born, some may not even get to know their parents, but I am lucky enough to be with mine. I haven’t grown up in a wealthy family, nor do I have a wealthy family, but we always find a way to take care of ourselves and each other.…

Respect has great importance in everyday life. As children we are taught to respect our parents, teachers, and elders, family and cultural traditions, other people's feelings, our country's flag and leaders. And we do tend to value these things; when we grow older, we may shake our heads at people who seem not to have learned to respect them. We develop the tendency to respect only those who are popular. We may also come to believe that, at some level, all people are worthy of respect. We may learn that jobs and relationships become unbearable if we receive no respect in them. Calls to respect certain things are increasingly part of public life: environmentalists exhort us to respect nature, foes of abortion and capital punishment insist on respect for human life, members of racial and ethnic minorities and those discriminated against because of their gender, sexual orientation, age, religious beliefs, or economic status demand respect both as social and moral equals and for their cultural differences. We may learn both that our lives together go better when we respect the things that deserve to be respected and that we should respect some things independently of considerations of how our lives would go.…
