As a Canadian I feel a great sense of pride in seeing our great and unified nation succeed in producing something dignified; be it an accomplishment such as the miraculous discovery of penicillin, the invention of the telephone, assisting thousands of fleeing slaves in their journeys through the underground railroad, and everything else we do as a nation to instill a sense of pride in ourselves, proving to the world we can do great things. Canada is responsible for a substantial number of inventions, innovations, and discoveries which allow us to lead the lives we possess. The multicultural tessellation of our great nation has been responsible for a great amount of accomplishments the human race has produced in recent years, as well as in history. Therefore, with all the diversity Canada offers, why do so many great African Canadians not receive proper recognition? Similar to all nations, we are not perfect. We must continue to appreciate and celebrate the numerous accomplishments Canadians of colour have gifted us with, and provide education to all Canadians on the achievements of every great African Canadian. Education is what arms us with knowledge, and Black History Month provides us with insight of the capabilities and triumphs of black Canadians so we may educate and inform future generations of the importance of multiculturalism in our …show more content…
It is inexcusable to consider others as less than who they are, simply due to the fact they are members of a separate race. We as humans must continue to comprehend we are infinitely more advantageous when we are accepting of all members of society, and when we persist in synergizing as one human race.
We are fortunate to live in a country where we are educated with the knowledge of the incredible accomplishments and all African Canadians have to offer. We are able to learn and appreciate the importance of being a multicultural nation; the accomplishments of African Canadians are important, however the idea of unity and inclusion of every race is equally important. By continuing to educate ourselves with the facts that we are better off as a human race when we promote equality, we will continue to grow as a country believing in being a multicultural and accepting
