Even though it was the first time the dog had entered the end zone to retrieve the ball, Tyler’s Bar is still liable for injuries sustained to Mr. Roseman. We can reference Wade V. American Nat. Ins. Co. and the “first bite rule” to explain this situation. Even if it was the dog’s first instant, the owner is still liable if evidence can be shown that he had prior knowledge to his canine’s inclination to commit the act that caused injury. Robert’s, the owner of the dog that caused injury to Mr. Roseman at Tyler’s Bar, clearly held prior knowledge of his dog’s natural tendencies. The masterminds behind Gordon Biersch were two individuals, Dan Gordon; a qualified brewing engineer from the esteemed University of Munich, Germany, and Dean Biersch; who had a passion for food service and a vast experience in the food and beverage sector. Their unique idea of a microbrewery and fine dining restaurant stemmed from a law amendment of California in 1983 which allowed brewing and serving of beer in the same locale. They envisioned the concept of providing high quality fine dining with outstanding service in an attractive ambiance featuring exceptional German-style lagers in on-site breweries. Their target market was the fairly sophisticated, yet not so young natives of Palo Alto as well as the Stanford University faculty, staff and graduate student body.…

Coors is a familiar brand name to most beer drinkers or those that indulge in alcoholic beverages. What may not be known in detail are the positive and negatives business trials and tribulations that have been endured by the company. The company dates back to 1873, where two German immigrants partnered to establish the brewery in Golden, Colorado. One notable fact is that Coors, who only invested a ninth ($2000) of what his partner Schueler invested (18000) later bought out his partner; becoming the sole owner of the company (Coors Brewing Company, 2012). Currently, Coors Brewing Company is known for his operation of the Golden, Colorado brewery, which is the largest single brewing facility in the whole world. While Coors is most widely known as a positive economic stimulator, there have been cases of public scrutiny in terms of minority issues. For example, Coors was part of a minority discrimination lawsuit in 1975, which ended in a settlement with Coors agreeing not to discriminate against blacks, Mexican-Americans, and women (Coors Brewing Company, 2012). The potential investor, Larry Brownlow, is faced with a decision that could change his life forever. Entrepreneurs most be willing to take risk, but those risk most be backed by firm and accurate data. Larry made a decision that he wants to invest in small business endeavors and not those associated with Corporate Giants. The decision to buy-into Coors distribution aligns with his personal business goals; however, Larry has a short-time span to make the final decision.…

Currently Steven Diaz is the only member of the Breach and Brew organization. As he expands his company and begins hiring employees we recommend finding people with experience in the coffee business seeing as he is very inexperienced in this area. We recommend Steven act as the manager of the store and spend his time there running the day-to-day operations. Hiring shift supervisors with some experience in running coffee shops as the lead employee behind the bar to lead the other employees working each shift would be the first hires. We recommend hiring 4-5 shift supervisors to ensure you can always have one in the store at all times. Then finally to fill out the rest of the staff we recommend hiring about 20 baristas/bartenders to serve the customers and make the drinks in order to have 3 working on each shift.…

Mountain Man Brewing Company was established as a family concern in 1925 in West Virginia by Guntar Prangle. The company brewed single-product beer, Mountain Man Lager, which won “best beer in West Virginia” and was elected as “America’s Championship Lager”. Mountain Man Lager featured quality, bitter favor and slightly higher-than-average alcohol content that uniquely contributed to the company’s brand equity. Mountain Man was a local market leader and distributed its lager in several states outside West Virginia. By 2005 Mountain Man was generating over $50 million in revenue with over 520,000 barrels of Mountain Man Lager sold. However, Mountain Man had been facing serious challenges. Its revenue was encountering a 2% yearly decrease in 2005 as it faced fierce competition. Light beer was sweeping the beer market and gained 50.4% of volume sales in market share in 2005. Thus, the objective of Mountain Man in this case study is to increase sales revenue by moving into the light beer market. Chris Prangel, son of the company’s owner, hoped to achieve three goals in his marketing campaign: 1.) To produce a light beer in the hope of attracting younger drinkers to the brand; 2.) To sustain the core brand equity of Mountain Man Lager; 3.) To maintain a steady share of its market segment by regaining the 2% annual loss.…

The overall objective of the book is to teach new, and old, leaders to become better leaders. While anyone can benefit from reading this book, the intended audience is leaders in any organization. One statistic that should be alarming to all leaders of businesses was that 65 percent of people leave their companies because of the managers (Abrashoff, 2002). How do leaders change that statistic? Abrashoff believes that running a ship is very similar to running any business; it takes motivating a crew to perform at the best of their abilities to achieve optimal efficiency and completion of tasks. He successfully takes his experiences from leading a Naval crew and teaches the audience how to apply it to their organizations. Along with highlighting every winning moment he and his crew experienced on the USS Benfold, Captain Abrashoff also shows failing moments the team had to endure. Those examples show the audience that in order to succeed, there has to be some trials along the way.…

The financial statement of Adams Limited is ready for a review. I spent about 2 hour making the adjusting entries and preparing the spreadsheet. The transactions of Adams Limited were very straightforward, so I could make the adjusting entries without much difficulties. I did not spend time researching about the adjusting entries. Instead, I used my accounting book as a guide for the financial statement format. Overall, I think I was very comfortable completing this assignment. However, I am sure that I will have to deal with more challenging assignments in the future. If that is the case, I will need to spend some time researching while I am working on each of the assignments. Things I remembered from school are the concept of time value of money, the calculation of the percentage of completion, making journal entries and adjusting entries, the differences between accrual basis of accounting and cash basis of accounting, LIFO&FIFO methods, basic financial statement preparation, and estimating bad debts expense: estimation of sales and estimation of account receivable.…

Joseph Schiltz Brewing Company was a United States beer company launched out of Wisconsin in the 19th century. Schiltz was known for making Wisconsin famous because of its original flavor that attracted customers. After the company’s original owner, August Krug, died in 1856 Joseph Schiltz took over managing the company. Over the next two decades the company grew to become one of the biggest breweries in Milwaukee. Joseph Schiltz died in 1875 because a ship he was on sunk coming back from Germany. This is when the company’s demise began. After several new managers were filtered though the company they made a crucial mistake then led to their downfall by cutting cost by replacing some of the malted barley with corn syrup and swapping cheaper hop pellets instead of using fresh hops, and shortening production time by a method they called accelerated batch fermentation. This cut production time from 25 days down to 15 days. If Joseph Schiltz Brewing Company focused more on quality control and customer satisfaction which proved successful for the company until new management did the opposite hoping that their customers would not be able to notice much of a difference they might still be one of the top breweries today.…
