Good morning everyone. Today I Sridhar Sahu stands before you to give a speech on child labour.
Child labour
"CHILD IS THE FATHER OF MAN" the famous lines by William Word worth. It symbolizes the need of children in building a healthy nation and society. Childhood is the first stage after infancy. It is the formative period in men's life. Children’s mind is like potter's clay. It has to be shaped in a right manner. A child normally has to enjoy its childhood days with its parents, teachers, friends, etc. But unfortunately many cant because of many reasons. E.g. - child labour. Child labour is the practice where children engage in economic activity, on part or full-time basis. The practice deprives children of their childhood, and is harmful to their physical and mental development. Poverty, lack of good schools and growth of informal economy are considered as the important causes of child labour in India. Many of us see children as selling newspapers, vegetable, fruits, polishing shoes, washing utensil, cleaning cars and toilets etc this all are e.g. of child labour.
So, how can we stop child labour? We can solve these problems by improving child labour legislation and laws and also by increasing the quality, relevance and access to education. Many countries have national child labour laws that establish a minimum age for work and regulate working conditions.
In conclusion, child labour should not happen as our greatest "natural resource" is the mind of the children. If child labour continues, the children will not be able to get a good education and our society cannot improve.
So, let's put our hand together to stop child labour.
Thank you.
