Santiago's Quest

The character is described to be a young shepherd that is in his teen years and wears loose clothing for his travels with his sheeps by his side. He wears a mask and turban on his adventure also to help with the weather conditions that surround him. Santiago, the young shepherd, walks in a curious and cautious way as he is still a young boy that should be wary of his settings when travelling alone. He stands determined and full of will as he travels across deserts, plains, and mountains. Other characters in the book have been shown to respect and acknowledge Santiago as he is full of curiosity and has open ears to enlightenment and philosophy. The older characters in the book appreciate Santiago as he infatuatedly takes their advice about certain places on his journey and words to heart. Other people may say or think that Santiago is too old and mature for his age.
Throughout the whole book, Santiago was on a journey to find an alchemist and not much was provided to the reason why or where. Santiago traveled through many difficult obstacles that he could have perished from, but it did not stop him from continuing his quest. Another action that makes Santiago interesting is the care and love he gives to his sheeps as a shepherd. Santiago’s sheep were his number one priority of being taken care of through out his journey. Although it was vague in the beginning to why the young boy was a shepherd and carrying sheep, it was later explained that the sheep helped Santiago travel through his quest as they can detect warnings and climate as
