The two battles of Saratoga, fought in the fall of 1777, were the turning point in the American Revolution. The British General; John Burgoyne had won a small battle against the American troops, in which his army was weakened, and continued attack the U.S. army again on October 7th (History, 1). Because the British troops were wearied and were running out of supplies, Burgoyne’s army was defeated and retreated. Ten days later, at Saratoga, New York, Burgoyne surrendered. This convinced France to become allies with the American troops. Without France, Great Britain would have beaten the Americans in the Revolution.
