If the study had gone as predicted, there may have been theoretical implications of savant skills playing a role in researchers being able to genetically distinguish groups within the autism spectrum. Additionally, results from other studies showing an increase in the number of individuals with ASD who possess exceptional skills suggest that a definition of the savant syndrome be further critiqued. This study also assisted in the search for a correlation between autism and special talents, and used sensory processing in talented relative to non-talented individuals with ASD to act as a stepping stone for further research on this topic. Overall, it is clear that this study is crucial in discussing the definition of savant syndrome and differentiating it from symptoms of ASD. I feel that the results of this study are very beneficial to the topic of my paper because I now have evidence to oppose some of the myths surrounding children with autism who are also savants. While there were several pieces of information in this article that were unclear, or vague, I found it to contain a variety of useful information in the form of graphs and
