For what is received, it would be better to spend that lunch money on healthier options from your local grocery store. If school lunch wasn’t bought, a loaf of bread could be purchased for $3, a jar of jelly for two dollars, a jar of peanut butter for three dollars, a bag of carrots for two dollars, and a bag of celery for two dollars, for a total of twelve dollars. This averages out to cost about one dollar and seventy cents per day, if this food lasted for seven days, which costs more than a dollar less than a school lunch. This amount of food would last students longer than a week, it would satisfy their hunger, and would be much healthier.
Horton Middle School lunch is providing an insufficient quantity of food, a quality that is not conducive to health, all the while charging a high price for it.
