Attending school year round does take away summer break (This is where, if you’re a kid, you stop reading and cry) but it gives you shorter, more frequent breaks. At the end of every nine weeks you get three weeks off. That equals 12 weeks which is the same amount of time summer break is. The school year might seem longer to you but it's not. It’s still the same amount of long,
boring weeks it always is.
If you're a kid who values his education and really wants to learn and do well, this year round plan will also help you. When you’re just starting the new school year, and teachers are springing all this work onto you, you might feel kind of dumb because you don't remember any of the stuff they’re teaching you. Studies show that kids lose a lot of what they learned the past school year on summer break. If you take part in the year round plan this wouldn’t happen, because your weeks off are spread out instead of one long straight.
Yes, this is probably very different than what you’re used to but it’s not at all as bad as you think it is. Let's have a recap of some of the benefits. First, you have the same time off and on as you usually do. Second, you can benefit from this if you’re serious about your grades. Finally, it might also be a good change, since you have been doing the same school plan for 9 years, give or take. So in my opinion, I think this would be a good and healthy change for kids.
